BioGnost Brings Advanced Histology Solutions to the University of Dubrovnik
Advanced histopathology solutions now enhance the scientific and educational activities of the Department of Applied Ecology at the University of Dubrovnik. Following two intensive days of professional training and technical implementation conducted in collaboration with BioGnost, the department establishes a fully equipped histology laboratory designed to support high-quality tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining workflows for aquatic organism research and academic applications.
Based on the department’s specific requirements, workload, and ongoing scientific projects, BioGnost provided a carefully selected combination of equipment and reagents designed to support both research and educational activities in the field of applied ecology and aquatic sciences.
The newly installed laboratory includes the MTP carousel tissue processor, the MPS P I paraffin embedding system with MPS C cold plate, and the CUT 4062 manual microtome by SLEE Medical GmbH, ensuring reliable tissue processing, embedding, and sectioning workflows. In addition, the Simport Scientific manual staining system has been introduced to facilitate ergonomic and efficient routine and special histological staining procedures.
The laboratory will also utilize BioGnost reagents for tissue processing and staining applications, including BioClear New, a xylene substitute, and BioMount New, a xylene-substitute-based mounting medium. These products contribute to a safer and less toxic working environment while maintaining high laboratory standards.
This collaboration represents another important step in supporting scientific research and education through modern, reliable, and environmentally conscious histology solutions. BioGnost looks forward to following the future research projects, graduate thesis, and doctoral dissertations that will emerge from the new laboratory.
